Running Time: 150 minutes/2 1.2 hours
December, 1989. Communist Romania is on the brink. The secret police guard the streets and thousands of spies listen to the citizens in their homes. The people are starved by a leader bent on extreme rationing to pay off the country's debts. Into this world come two lovers desperate to unite their different families. But a wedding to an American, a revolution, and its aftermath change personal as well as political relationships. Caryl Churchill guides us through winding paths of surrealism and docudrama, humor and death, revolution and conspiracy in this MAD FOREST.
