I Don't Have To Show You No Stinking Badges

Casa 0101 Theater
( 02/01/2013 - 03/10/2013 )
Running Time: 90 minutes

CASA 0101 Theater is proud to present, for the first time in L.A. in 25 years, "I Don't Have To Show You No Stinking Badges", by Luis Valdez (creator of "Zoot Suit" and "La Bamba"). The play is set in the greater Los Angeles suburb of Monterey Park in the mid-1980s. Sonny Villa, a teen-aged, Chicano pre-law student at Harvard, unexpectedly returns home with an older woman and big plans no one is expecting. Sonny's parents, both actors surviving on typecast roles, have high expectations for their bright son and struggle to see his new point of view. While taking comedic twists and leaps, this lesser-known but important work by Luis Valdez, examines imprinted cultural stereotypes and reflects on how we perceive and struggle to overcome them.
