In this dark comedy, a homeless man- malodorous, addled and constantly rambling obscenities to passersby- is forced to confront his past and his present when he accidentally stumbles upon the funeral of his long-estranged best friend. As he waits outside the church in the vain hope of being allowed in to pay his respects, he must suddenly renew acquaintances with his erstwhile schoolmates, each one more successful than the one before and none being particularly interested in helping him. Haunted by guilty visions of ancient sins, with the love of his life nearby again for the first time in years, he finds himself with one incalculably long shot at redemption- and the unavoidable knowledge that he’ll probably make a mess of it.
